Children and Young People
Throughout August 2026, The Department for Transport has announced a new scheme that gives all children aged 5 to 15 free travel on local bus services across England, between 1st - 31st August. This applies whether children are travelling on their own or with an adult. There are no time restrictions and the scheme is fully funded by the Government. As a result, during this period, we are withdrawing child Fastrack tickets from sale. Multi-operator and Discovery tickets remain available for sale as other participating operators allow eligible passengers to travel using child fares.
From September 2026, we will continue to offer children and young people a range of different discounts on our buses,.

PlusBus
If your child is not eligible for a Kent Travel Saver or free school travel above, and travels by train as well as using bus services in and around Thameside, a PlusBus ticket can be a good value option. Child day PlusBus day tickets start from £2.25 and a monthly season ticket costs as little as £36.90 when purchased with an accompanying train ticket. Discovery
A Discovery Ticket gives you unlimited travel in Kent and the south of England for a day on most major operators in West Sussex, East Sussex, Brighton & Hove, East Hampshire, Surrey, Kent & Medway, and is an excellent option if your considering travelling by bus beyond the Thameside area - such as a trip to the seaside or a hike on the Downs. Child day tickets are £8, and a family ticket for up to 5 people (including a minimum of 1 and a maximum of 2 adults) is £20.
